Music favorites: There’s a lot for this month. Bare with me on this. Both of the new singles by Dolly Parton, which are Bygones as well as Magic Man (A Heart Cover that is sooo good). Bebe Rexha, Me, Myself & I. My little anthem that I’ve been playing on repeat all month. And I can’t forget…..some of the Barbie Movie music. Cause it was so good. Push (matchbox twenty cover) by Ryan Gosling. I’m Just Ken, by Ryan Gosling. (And yes I’m tempted to by that I’m Kenough Hoodie from the merch site). Dance The Night, Dua Lipa (cause no spoilers for the movie but the dance scene was chef’s kiss in my opinion. And finally Billie Elish, What Was I Made For? (played during the credits but also played a snippet of it during the ending, and yes the ending and many parts of the movie made me cry like a baby with tears streaming down my face. Should I just add a movie(s) of the month section? let me know).
Fiction Favorites: There are MANY this month, I’ve been really spending the time reading during the evenings before going to bed (most times making it to where I’ll be going to sleep at midnight but it’s totally worth it in my mind to stay up to read).
Queen Of Roses / Court Of Claws – Briar Boleyn. Both books in the reviews said it was similar to Of Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout. And if you’ve been reading these blog posts for awhile now you know how I feel about Jennifer Armentrout. (love her). There are similarities with it and I love this series, can’t wait to read the 3rd installment. I got the first book through the Stuff Your Kindle Day at the start of the month and I’m glad that I picked up the first book because I binged read it and jumped to the second book. And I definitely will be looking at other books from her to read as well since I already know they are going to be just as good as this series. Especially if you love the enemies-to-lovers trope.
SPEAKING OF JENNIFER ARMENTROUT, I read the new installment (as if writing this on the 22nd I have just finished reading it the previous day). A Soul Of Ash And Blood, perfection. That is if you’ve always wanted the perspective of the love interest Hawke (or Cas if you’ve read the series). Loved it even it if was a rehashing of book 1 from his perspective. They also touched on events that happen after The War Of Two Queens book as well. It took me a few days to read this book because I knew I have a tendency to binge-read her books but I read it slowly throughout the evenings the week it was released to make it so I wouldn’t finish it in one day. Kind of savor it basically. If you love enemies-to-lovers trope totally recommend the Of Blood and Ash series.
Unfurl: A Hot Age Gap Romance (Alchemy Book #1) by Elodie Hart. (cue fanning self, cause holy damn was this book hot). Found it off TikTok, because someone was sharing a part of the book and that was all I needed to go to my kindle app and download it and read it all in one day. Its hot, also some religious elements (just letting you know if thats a turn off for anyone). But now I want to read all the other books from this author.
Non-Fiction Books: none this month because I’ve been reading ^those up there.
Writing Updates: As of now writing this (now its the 25th), I’ve written about 5636 words. All for my camp nanowrimo project of working on my paranormal/dark romance first draft. Not the 30k that I wanted to complete but maybe with the November Nanowrimo I’ll be able to surpass to 80k for the project? I do have the project up for alpha readers to read it as I’m updating it. If you are interested in becoming an alpha reader, just let me know and I’ll shoot you the link.
Smashwords Sale Update: As of now I’m sitting at 29 books that have been “bought” through the sale because they are up for free. And they will be until 31st on Smashwords through the sale. Go pick them up for free while you still can! And my preorder for my paranormal/dark romance is also up for free (if you are interested!)
That’s it for this month,
xoxo Jessica Danielle
